S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT!

Last night was the fourth Saturday night in a row I spent at home – alone – watching Star Trek reruns on broadcast television.  If I’m not careful, I might turn into this guy:

Truly Outrageous!

Ever since I missed my window of opportunity to buy Jem and the Holograms on DVD before it went out of print, I’ve debated whether paying $130 for an incomplete series was worth it.  (Apparently, Rhino lost the distribution rights to the show before releasing the remaining episodes.)  I almost said ‘yes’ today, until I read Jem’s wikipedia page.  It said that Hasbro acquired the rights to Jem this year, so there’s hope that the series will be re-released in the future!  I think I’ll hang on to my money and see how this plays out.

Of course, we all just watched Jem for The Misfits, right?

I’ve been converted!

No, not to the Republican party. To digital television! My mom and I took our government coupons (really plastic pre-paid credit cards) to Best Buy and bought digital converter boxes for our rabbit ears. I now get 17 more channels than I did with my antenna alone. Unfortunately, half of those channels are broadcasting the Republican National Convention this evening. The other half are weather and/or Jesus channels. Thus far into my conversion, I’ve been watching DVDs as though I hadn’t even shelled out $24 or gotten angry at the setup instructions.
